VIP Community Services, a progressive behavioral health and community service organization seeks a dynamic, results-oriented, and experienced individual to fill the position of Controller. Join us in our efforts to change lives. Under the direction of the AVP of Finance is responsible for maintaining an accurate and complete general ledger for VIP Community Services and its affiliates. This includes preparing and reviewing all journal entries, including those related to GAAP required adjustments and preparing all financial reports. A description of the position is below. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
A. Provide Monitoring, Maintenance, Analysis and Reporting of Financial Data.
• Monitor and maintain General Ledger of VIP Community Services and all of its affiliates. Insures transactions are posted accurately and timely.
• Review the trail balance on a monthly basis, develop and provide supporting documentation for all significant balances.
• Prepare assigned journal entries. Review and approve all other journal entries for inclusion onto the General Ledger on a monthly basis.
• Manage and Supervise the coordination of payment of agency bills to the advantage of the origination in terms of cash flow and discounts.
• Work closely with AVP of Finance to establish and maintain cost allocation methodology tables.
• Prepare schedules and coordinate the preparation of other schedules required for the annual agency audit.
• Prepare all financial statements (including the Statement of Financial Position and Variance Statements) for VIP Community Services and its affiliates on a monthly basis. Insure accurate and timely reporting of all assets, liabilities, and net assets.
• Review and insure accurate monthly Variance Statements for each VIP program. Insure accurate and timely reporting of operating surpluses/(deficits).
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget (i.e. “FinMan”). Provide quality assurance of monthly budget (a.k.a. “FinMan”).
• Develop strategies designed to improve the Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet) with emphasis on increasing or maintaining net asset base.
• Analyze and evaluate temporarily restricted assets and insures that such assets are recorded accurately.
• Monitor and manage inter-agency transactions to insure that such transactions are appropriately “closed out” by end of each fiscal year.
• Work on special projects and all other duties as assigned by the AVP of Finance.
B. Maintain a Positive Image of the Organization in the Community the Organization Services and in State and National Organizations.
• Represent VIP or Vice President - Finance & Administration at meetings, functions, etc.
• Promote good community relations through participation in community affairs and community outreach programs as assigned.
• Participate in Job Training and Education Programs, Meetings and Committees as assigned or indicated.
• Attend mandatory in-service annually.
• Attend seminars to further professional development.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.S. Degree in Accounting with at least seven years related experience
Or
• MBA in Accounting with five years related experience
• Strong analytical skills, spreadsheet abilities, and solid communications required.
• Knowledge of non profit software e.g., American Fundware preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with all populations served.
• Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
